Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers in developing children’s environmental awareness by analyzing findings from previous research and relevant literature. This review employs a library research method by analyzing scientific articles, books, and journals published within the last ten years that address environmental education in early childhood settings. The findings indicate that teachers play a crucial role as role models, facilitators, and motivators in fostering children’s environmental awareness and environmentally responsible behavior. Nature-based learning, project-based activities, and the integration of Islamic values have been shown to be effective in cultivating ecological consciousness from an early age. Common challenges include limited facilities, insufficient teacher training, and inadequate support within the learning environment. This study highlights that strengthening teacher competencies and enhancing collaboration with parents are key factors in the successful implementation of environmental education in ECE institutions.
